Repair of Danube Bridge at Ruse is progressing as per schedule
A total of 195 reinforced concrete panels, each measuring 2.48 metres by 4.40 metres and weighing 5.6 tonnes, have been made since the start of the major repair of the Danube Bridge at Ruse, which began on 10 July this year.
The repair of the bridge is in a section of more than 400 metres in length, in the lane in the direction of Bulgaria, and the construction works are being carried out in accordance with the approved schedule, the Road Infrastructure Agency said on October 16.
The installation of panels, which serve to form the pavement edge of the road reinforced concrete panels, has been completed in the section of about 240 m. The holes for the installation of the bridge drains have been made in the 240 m long section. The restoration of 413 m of pedestrian railing and 12 lighting poles on the Danube Bridge at Ruse is also in progress. They are of artistic value and it is necessary to preserve their integrity, to restore and reinstall them.
The construction works are being carried out without stopping traffic, and the facility will not be closed, the Road Infrastructure Agency said. Work is being carried out on site daily during daylight hours. The work process is organised and carried out so that vehicles pass in stages in a two-way direction in the lane where no work is being carried out.
