Restrictions in place for traffic via Troyan pass for heavy-freight vehicles
Passage of heavy-freight vehicles weighing more than 12 tonnes is temporarily restricted via the highest pass in Bulgaria’s Stara Planina mountain, Troyan Pass, on November 30. Due to thick fog, visibility in the pass is up to 100 m.
Due to heavy snowfall, the movement of all vehicles on the road II-21Rouse - Silistra in the section from the junction for the village of Pozharevo to the crossroads for the village of Garvan is temporarily restricted.
The Road Infrastructure Agency reminds motorists to travel only with vehicles that are prepared for winter conditions, to drive at a speed appropriate for the road conditions, not to take risky maneuvers and avoid overtaking snow ploughing machines. Vehicles that are not prepared for winter conditions cause difficulties for all motorists on the road and for the work of the snow ploughing machines.
Nearly 400 machines worked during the night to ensure safe travel in winter conditions. Road treatment continues and more snow equipment is ready to clean the roads if snow fall gets more intense.
Up-to-date information on the road conditions and maintenance is available on the RIA website, www.api.bg, and on the telephone line 0700 130 20 at any time.
