Rose harvesting season in Bulgaria’s Rose Valley began
The season for the harvesting of the oil-bearing rose flowers began in the region of Kazanlak, which is known as the Rose Valley of Bulgaria.
The ritual of rose picking is exceptionally attractive and despite the technological time, the picking of the Damascena rose blossoms has not changed in the past few centuries.
Problems with finding workers and the purchase price per kg of rose flowers are to be expected, because of the high fuel prices, expensive maintenance materials and expensive fertilisers.
Many of the rose growers are making a loss. Rose processors are expected to refuse to buy rose flowers due to stocks of rose oil that are old. The problem is that there is nowhere to store it and it is spoiling.
