Sea foam seen on the beach at Shabla

Two days ago, a young man saw an unusual phenomenon on the beach in Shabla and captured it in footage that quickly gained widespread popularity on social networks. The pictures show how the entire beach is literally covered with fluffy sparkling foam.

Ioan Arnaudov has been working at the Bulgarian seaside as a lifeguard for the second year, he has seen different seascapes, but he did not expect a surprise like this.

"When I arrived in the morning, the whole sea came out a lot, the waves were very big and the foam was literally everywhere! When you walk, it could reach your knees. Everything was fabulous and I decided to just take pictures and share them on Facebook, so that more people can see this, something unique for me - a lot of foam, which was pure white and very beautiful! ", he said.

The young man says that local residents have told him that the sea has foamed so far, but not in this way.

"They said it was not that unusual, but they were also just impressed by the scale. But it has happened before,” he added.

The ecologist of Shabla municipality, Galya Kamberova, confirms that a phenomenon of such scale is extremely rare and she herself has not observed it live, although she was born, lives and works there.

"The phenomenon is not dangerous, as it is a mixture of proteins, which are living and dead marine matter phytoplankton, algae and a small amount of fungi. They contain some surfactants, which are contained in the soap, and in this strong wind and great excitement, this foaming occurs," Kamberova explained.

Today there was also excitement that forms foam, but on the morning of June 16, the waves reached 2-3 points, which led to the effect of the washing machine, but with completely natural organic matter. This is not dangerous for people, Galya Kamberova noted. But how does it affect marine fauna?

Probably such a risk would have existed if it lasted too long and a very large foam is formed, but for an hour, it's just a beautiful phenomenon that one is fortunate to see, you can enjoy it," she added.
