Slavi Trifonov: I withdraw the ministers of "There is Such a People" and put an end to this coalition
From today, I withdraw the ministers of "There is Such a People" (a member of the 4-party coalition) and I put an end to this coalition and this agony," the party leader Slavi Trifonov said in an extraordinary statement on June 8.
"Various people dared to say that I want power. That we are here for power. No, we are not. Everything is a question of morality. If we wanted power, we would comfortably stay in government and enjoy all the perks of power. But I'm not here for that. I am here for morality. I didn't form a government when I had the most MPs because of moral choices. It is because of moral choices that I am now, on my own, voluntarily leaving the government. If benefits were the goal - I would have stayed, smiling and fed up in this coalition. Unlike "We Continue the Change", I am not," said Slavi Trifonov, the leader of “There is Such a People”.
In his words, the departure of the ministers of "There is Such a People" is another reason.
"The reasons why this coalition is not working and we have no place in it are two - North Macedonia and the fact that there is no money in the country anymore," Slavi Trifonov added.
According to him, the Prime Minister is pursuing a different foreign policy in relation to the Republic of North Macedonia, different from that of the Parliament, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the policy declared at the Consultative Council under the President.
"The Prime Minister has another foreign minister, not the foreign minister Teodora Genchovska, but another one called Vesela Cherneva. Kiril Petkov has promised various leaders from Europe and the world that he will lift the veto on North Macedonia, even though the vast majority of Bulgarian citizens want North Macedonia to start negotiations only when it fulfils the agreement between the two countries signed in 2017. This is called national betrayal," Slavi Trifonov said.
In his words, "since Assen Vassilev has been finance minister, billions have been flying around the country."
"No one has the right to experiment with them on his own, to spend them as he sees fit and to do whatever he wants. Nobody knows what the biggest sum in Bulgaria's history was spent on - BGN 9 billion in 9 days in December 2021 - BGN 4 billion was drained from the energy sector and spent on current needs, BGN 200 million was taken from state companies to buy grain, but there is no grain," Slavi Trifonov said.
He specified that most of the measures for the budget update will increase inflation and devalue the little money people have left.
"The MPs from "There is such a People" will support the budget update in the part about the social measures and the pensions of the people, but they will not support the rest because it is harmful and leads the country to ruin," the TISP leader stressed.
