Sofia city council elected Tsvetomir Petrov as temporary chairperson, in office until end of July
Sofia City Council elected Tsvetomir Petrov of the“ We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria-Spasi Sofia” coalition as temporary chairperson. His candidacy received the support of 47 municipal councillors. He will head the city parliament until July this year.
His election came after an agreement between the political groups of the presiding council in the municipality before the eighth vote today, February 8.
After taking the post, Tsvetomir Petrov thanked everyone for their support, admitted that it was a difficult compromise and promised that he himself would not compromise with the development of his hometown Sofia.
“There is Such a People” party candidate, Plamen Danailov got four votes and “Vazrazhdane” candidate, Emil Dimitrov, three. There were five invalid ballots.
The election of Tsvetomir Petrov a council chairperson means that Sofia city council, elected on October 29, 2023, will be able to start work, voting on ordinances and the municipal budget of Sofia.
This came after 7 unsuccessful attempts to elect a chairperson of the city parliament.

Tsvetomir Petrov was born on June 5, 1990 in Sofia.
In 2009 he graduated from the Vocational School of Telecommunications. He completed his higher education at the University of National and World Economics, where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration and later a Master's degree in Management and Administration.
He speaks English very well.
In 2009, he was Credit Control Team Leader at CableTel, where he led the team in preparing, organizing and collecting arrears.
In 2010-2011, he held the position of Team Manager at S.G. Group Ltd.
From 2011 to 2013, he was a marketing consultant at Kenvelo Bulgaria Ltd.
From 2013 to 2015, he was a regional representative for the city of Sofia, ISDR (Independent Sitetalk Deals Representative), ISCR (Independent Sitetalkcashback Representative) of The Opportunity Network Ltd., where he prepared, organized, developed and managed the overall commercial policy of the company. Ensures the proper functioning of the order fulfillment system by providing training, support and motivation as needed as well as administrative compliance.
For the period 2015 - 2018, he was an expert in the regional administration of Sofia region, where he organized and managed the work of the correspondence department, the full material technical support of the administration and the implementation of procedures under the Public Procurement Act.
From 2018 to 2021, he was Chief Expert at the Ministry of Environment and Water, where his activities focused on the preparation of all types of acts and the documents approved by them related to the preparation, launch and conduct of procurement procedures under the Public Procurement Act (PPA); participation in committees for the examination, evaluation and ranking of bids received under public procurement; carrying out all actions provided for in the PPA after the completion of the contract; completing, archiving and inventorying procurement files.
In the autumn of 2022, he joined “We Continue the Change" party.
In October 2023, he was elected as a municipal councillor in Sofia City Council from "We Continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria- Save Sofia” coalition.
On February 8, he was elected as the chairman of Sofia City Council.
