"Sofia District Heating" files an application for 30% lower price of heating and hot water from July 1
"Sofia District Heating" has submitted its application for the new price of heat energy from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025, which is by 30% lower than the current one, the company said on April 1.
The proposed lower price, BGN 97.78 per megawatt-hour, which will come into effect from 1 July 2024, takes into account the decrease in the exchange prices of natural gas and carbon emissions, the dynamics of socio-economic processes in the country, as well as the fact that during the current regulatory period the price of blue fuel was lower than the price of heat set by the utilities regulator, Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC).
For the second year in a row the company is asking for a reduction in the price, seeking a balance between an optimal value for the company and a socially acceptable value for the customers of the heating service provided.
Operating in a strictly regulated environment, Sofia District Heating will comply with the final decision of the EWRC. The regulator will make a decision by 30 June 2024, and when making the final decision will refine the pricing elements based on the current information at the end of June 2024.
