Sofia Opera confirms success of Die Walküre with third performance in Bavaria

Another success of Plamen Kartalov's opera production "Die Walküre" on the stage of the Neuschwanstein Music Theatre in the German city of Füssen. Admirers of Wagner's work from around the world came to Bavaria, on the cusp of Germany's national holiday, to watch the opera, described as the jewel in Wagner's Ring of the Nibelung.

Unceasing applause, a packed house and shouts of "Bravo" for a true fairy tale told with all the philosophy of Wagner and at the same time with a completely innovative and inspiring vision and remarkable mastery of the soloists and orchestra of the Bulgarian National Opera and Ballet. The German audience spared no praise for the Bulgarian interpretation of Die Walküre, Maestro Kartalov and the stars of the Bulgarian opera.

Wagnerians around the world describe the production as a true sensation

"An exceptional performance! I haven't seen a better production of Richard Wagner in so long! Because it was he himself in his full integrity and expressiveness," said Thomas Krakov, President of the Richard Wagner society in Leipzig.

"It is a great joy to have such a response from German audiences. I personally am very, very pleased, happy and grateful to Maestro Kartalow because he is the reason this happened. We should be very proud!" said Tsvetana Bandalovska - soloist at the National Opera and Ballet.

The Bulgarian production of "Die Walküre" brought together our compatriots, Wagner fans from near and far.

"It's wonderful, in this place, such an opera, it's just amazing," said Vera Kabara.

"The exciting thing is that the Sofia Opera House has become the focus of dreams come true," said composer Acad . Plamen Kartalov.

The maestro's dream is soon to present all four operas from the Ring of the Nibelung tetralogy - Das Rheingold, Die Walküre, Siegfried and The Sunset of the Gods - again here on the Neuschwanstein stage.
