Sofia - Varna fast train derailed near Svoge station
The fast train Sofia - Varna derailed in the area of Svoge station on July 24. The accident happened shortly after midnight.
When the high-spreed night train No. 2627 from Sofia to Varna was entering Svoge station, about five minutes after midnight, at the switches before the station, the first car of the composition went off the rails with the second bogie. There were no prerequisites for endangering the safety of the passengers in the situation, the railway company, BDZ, assures.

There were 237 passengers on the train. They were transferred to a multiple unit train and transported to the Mezdra station.
At Mezdra station a new train was prepared and the passengers continued their journey to Varna shortly after 3.00. The train it is running 177 minutes late.
The causes of the railway accident are being clarified. An on-site inspection is being carried out at Svoge station to clarify the reasons for the train carriage going off the rails. The movement of trains through the station was restored at 3.50, the BDZ said.
