Southwestern parts of Sofia and several municipalities in Western Bulgaria are without electricity

A fire shut down power supply in the southwestern parts of the capital Sofia in the evening on November 25. There is no electricity in the residential areas of Vitosha, Krasna Polyana, Bankya, Triaditsa, Kremikovtzi, Lozenets, Lyulin, Ovcha Kupel, Krasno Selo.

Also, heavy snowfall caused power outages in many places in Sofia district, including the municipalities of Kostenets, Dragoman, Pravets, Botevgrad, Samokov, Godech, Slivnitsa, Bozhurishte, Kostinbrod, Dolna Banya, Elin Pelin, Svoge.

A check on the website of Elektrohold distribution company shows that there are also power outages in the districts of Pernik, Kyustendil, Lovech, Vratsa, Montana and Vidin.

Emergency teams are working to fix the breakdowns caused by the heavy snow that snapped wires, broke insulators and knocked down poles.

A fire at an Electrodistribution Grid West EAD substation caused power cuts in parts of the southwestern districts of the capital at 7.48pm. Electrodistribution Grid West EAD and fire fighting teams are on the ground. Power supply is expected to be restored by 9.45pm at the latest.

Steps are being taken to establish the cause.
