Spartan aircraft delivers humanitarian aid to quake-hit Syria today
Bulgaria sends humanitarian aid to the victims of the earthquake in Syria. It will be delivered by a Bulgarian Air Force Spartan aircraft, which on February 16 took off from Vrazhdebna airbase to Lebanon.
The decision to send the aid was adopted at the government meeting yesterday on the proposal of caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Ivan Demerdzhiev. The plane is carrying 4.5 tonnes of humanitarian aid. Blankets and sleeping kits from the Bulgarian Red Cross have been sent, as well as tents and blankets provided by the General Directorate for Fire Safety and Population Protection.
Later in the day, the aircraft will return via turkey, from where it will pick up medical teams from the Military Medical Academy, which have been providing assistance to the earthquake victims for 10 days.
