SPECIAL POLICE OPERATION TEMPORARILY CLOSES LESOVO CHECK POINT

A joint operation of the Bulgarian police and prosecutor’s office is underway at Lesovo check point at Bulgaria’s border with Turkey. The checkpoint has been closed for traffic since 8:00 in the morning on 2nd of November, Bulgaria’s Ministry of Interior said.

Border police advises all people travelling to Turkey to use other checkpoints – Kapitan Andreevo and Malko Turnovo.

The authorities have not yet released official information about the operation. According to unofficial information, about 40 customs officers have been arrested for corruption.
