Stanislav Todorov elected Chairman of the Energy Regulator
With 128 votes in favour and 13 against, Bulgaria’s Parliament on February 9 elected Stanislav Todorov of “We Continue the Change” as Chairman of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC).
With 130 votes in favour and 13 against, the Parliament elected Blagoi Golubarev of “There is Such a People” as a member of EWRC. The two were sworn in.
Opposition GERB and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms did not participate in the vote.
"Whether I will do my job well, it will be seen. Certainly, the EWRC should maintain the balance between the interests of economic operators and consumers and this is a very difficult task that only people who are well prepared can handle," the new chairman of EWR, Stanislav Todorov, said.
The choice of Todorov is not yet final. The opposition said they will file a complaint with the Constitutional Court because they doubt whether the new head of the regulator meets the law requirements for the post.
