Svetoslav Stoikov, the Bulgarian who kicked a woman down a flight of stairs at a subway station in Berlin, admitted his guilt and apologized at the second hearing of the trial in the German capital on 26th of June. Stoikov claims that he was drunk and took drugs on the night of the incident, so he did not remember anything from the brutal act.
The attack on the woman took place on 27th of October at the Hermannstrasse U-Bahn station. A week before Svetoslav was arrested, the police released CCTV footage depicting how the man – seemingly unprovoked – had followed a woman walking down subway stairs and kicked her in the back, causing her to fall face-first to the platform. The assault left her with a broken arm. The man and a group of his companions (three other Bulgarians) then walked away.
