Three districts in Bulgaria drop out of the Covid-19 “red zone”
Three districts in Bulgaria dropped out of the Covid-19 “red zone” list and are now designated as “orange”: Pleven (107); Kardzhali(102)and Haskovo(114). The infection rate in them has decreased to less than 120 per 100,000 population.
Out of the 28 districts in the country, 25 remain in the Red zone.
The third wave of Covid-19 epidemic in Bulgaria is subsiding, prof. Todor Kantardzhiev from the national coronavirus task force told BNT on May 11.
The Covid-19 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 population now is below 170 people, he said noting that only about a month ago it was 720 people per 100,000.
Thanks to the anti-epidemic measures, the increase in cases was slow, so the system was not overloaded, Kantardzhiev added.
Despite the downward trend in the Covid-19 infections in the country, gatherings of many people indoors should continue to be avoided, there should be ventilation of indoor spaces and people should wear masks if they come into contact with other people in a room, he added.
