Three Sherpas Search for Missing Bulgarian Climber at Shisha Pangma

Three Sherpas started a search for the Bulgarian mountaineer, Boyan Petrov, at Shisha Pangma peak in the Himalayas on 8th of May. The weather is still bad.

The climber has been missing since May 3.

The information about the lack of contact with him was filed by the Tibetan Alpine Association. Boyan Petrov was last spotted on April 29. He attempted to climb the eight-thousandth Shisha Pangma, but because of a sharp weather deterioration, his tracks were lost.

Boyan Petrov participated in the expedition with other 10 people from other nationalities.

Helicopters cannot get involved in the rescue operations at this stage due to the strong wind.

The three sherpa reached Camp 1 under the peak Shisha Pangma, but the Bulgarian was not there, Petrov’s wife Mrs. Radoslava Nenova told BNR. Today’s rescue operation is over.

Deyan Petkov, one of the coordinators of the climbing expedition said that the official information was that the Sherpas reached 6,000 meters, which is not Camp 1. From the base camp we have information, that the sherpas will continue the search tomorrow, he said.

The biggest hope remains to be found in Camp 2. Boyan Petrov was last seen on April 29.

Six professional rescuers have also gone looking for Boyan Petrov, they are 6,000 meters above sea level.

It has also become clear that a helicopter can be sent from Nepal, but the Chinese authorities should give a permission.
