Traffic restrictions continue on "Trakia" and "Struma" motorways and on the Pass of the Republic

Traffic restrictions continue on "Trakia" and "Struma" motorways, as well as on the Pass of the Republic on October 4.

Heavy goods vehicles travelling from the checkpoint "Kapitan Andreevo" in the direction of Rousse - "Danube Bridge" or vice versa are redirected through the road Harmanli-Topolovgrad-Elhovo-Yambol, as well as through Rishki Pass. The detour for cars is via Shipchensky and Kotlenski Pass.

On the territory of Haskovo region the traffic is blocked on the road II-76 in the area of the village of Knyazhevo.

The detour route for cars is through Knyazhevo - Radovets - Pustrogor - Svilengrad, and for vehicles over 12 tonnes - Svilengrad - Maritsa Motorway - Trakia Motorway - Chirpan road junction - Rakitnitsa - Stara Zagora and vice versa.

Trakia motorway near Stara Zagora remains closed to traffic for the sixth day.

The protesters are waiting for the vote on the agreement in the National Assembly to decide whether to remove the blockade.

Parliament’s energy committee on October 4 approved the agreement with the protesting miners and energy workers.

The protesters say the agreement does not give them specifics and certainty and have announced they will not sign it for the time being.

They said they were betrayed by the trade union representatives of the energy workers.

"Not only our union, but all the miners who are represented in some way by the Podkrepa union and CITUB, we did not sign the agreement. And we will not sign it. The agreement has its good points. We have no major controversies or anything that we are not happy with. But the agreement itself is something wishful thinking and we do not believe that it will be implemented in an exemplary manner," said Biser Binev, a representative of the Podkrepa trade union.

"We were deceived by our colleagues. We went on strike together and they lied to us. Some people signed, they probably got something, no one will say what they got. We continue with the protest, it depends on who will support us. People want to support us, but they will start pressing them, from their enterprise, and in the end we will be left again," added Sheryo Shterev, Troyanovo-3 mine.

"This agreement does not have any specifics, there are some wishful things that have no numbers, no volumes or quantities of electricity. There is nothing to make us think that something positive is happening. Things have been written that must be discussed in the future, and when they are discussed with the same people whose aims are to destroy the energy industry, the result will be the same again, we will fight. If we stop the blockade now, we will have to block something again," said Zorka Madzharova.

According to the representatives of Maritsa East Mines, the points in the agreement contradict European directives and will not be implemented. They insist that the territorial just transition plans should be withdrawn from Brussels and the points should be filed there, each of them to be negotiated specifically with Brussels.
