TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS SCHEDULED FOR ROZHEN FOLKLORE FESTIVAL

Traffic restrictions are scheduled for the Rozhen passage from 6.00 a.m. on 15th of July to 6.00 a.m. on 18th of July in relation to the organization of the National Festival of Folklore and Livestock Breeding “Rozhen”.

Тhe event will take place in the meadows of Rozhen peak in Rhodope Mountains, the region of Smolyan, from 15th to 17th of July. It features large number of visitors and performers presenting folk songs, customs, rituals, dances, clothing and costumes.

Traffic restrictions will be in place for the road section Plovdiv – Chepelare – Sokolovtsi - Smolyan, from the turn to the winter resort complex Pamporovo to the village of Sokolovtsi.

Transiting vehicles can use the route Progled – Pamporovo – Smolyan – Sokolovtsi, and vice versa.

The ban on the movement of vehicles weighing more than 3,5 tonnes will be lifted for that period for the road between Pamporovo and Smolyan.

Regulatory and guide signs will be placed on the road to inform drivers about the changes in the traffic. Traffic regulators will provide guidance to the drivers.

Traffic in the area of the festival will be regulated by officers from the ministry of interior, Road Infrastructure Agency informs.

Due to expected increased traffic on the road between Plovdiv and Smolyan, freight vehicle drivers are recommended to use detour routes: Plovdiv – Krichim – Devin – Stoikite – Pamporovo – Smolyan or Plovdiv – Kardzhali – Ardino – Smolyan and vice versa.

Smolyan municipality will provide public transport to the Rozhen folklore festival. Buses will leave at 8.30 in the mornings from bus station Ustovo and will run every 15 minutes. A one-way ticket, from Ustovo to Rozhen, will cost 2 BGN.
