Two teachers die from Covid-19

Two teachers - from Shoumen and Razgrad (Northern Bulgaria) died from COVID-19 on October 26.

The 49-year-old teacher from the School of Public Catering and Chemical Technologies "Asen Zlatarov" in the city of Shoumen was admitted for treatment in the Infectious Diseases Department of the hospital. She died from complications.

The teacher from “Nikola Vaptsarov” Primary School in Razgrad was under quarantine when her condition worsened.

As soon as she felt unwell, the 48-year-old teacher was quarantined. She was hospitalized last week, but on Sunday she died. During this period she had no contact with students and teachers.

The 49-year-old teacher from the School of Public Catering and Chemical Technologies in Shoumen also lost the battle with the disease. Ten days ago, she and her sister, also a high school teacher, went for medical examination. They had high body temperature and the nurse of the school at the time of the examination said there were suspicions it could be Covid-19. They both took PCR tests, the results of which were positive.

Inspectors from the Regional Health Inspectorate ordered complete disinfection of the school premises. The head-master of the school, Vesselin Todorov, said that all anti-epidemic measures are observed – students wear masks during lessons and during breaks, the teachers wear shields as well.

We are trying to keep physical distance, but it difficult, especially during practices, when students are cooking, he said.

The head-master sent a letter to the Ministry of Education requesting the school classes to continue online until November 6, because two more teachers are in quarantine.
