A prayer service was held in the Church “St. Nicolas the Miracle-Maker” in the South Bulgarian town of Assenovgrad on 13th of November to wish victory to Kubrat Pulev in the upcoming boxing fight with Wladimir Klitschko and was initiated by the vicar of Assenovgrad, Father Jordan and the former holder of the national title, the boxing fighter, Angel Bikov.
Scores of people, among which representatives of sport such as boxing, wrestling, fighting, basketball and weightlifting came to the church and prayed for the health and success of Kubrat Pulev at the fight on Saturday, 15th of November.
The reigning heavyweight champ Wladimir Klitschko makes his 17th title defense against Kubrat “The Cobra” Pulev on Saturday at the O2 World Arena in Hamburg, Germany.
Kubrat Pulev earned his status as mandatory challenger Wladimir Klitschko’s IBF heavyweight title by beating Tony Thompson in August of 2013. Since then Pulev has been eagerly awaiting his turn at Klitschko.
Pulev’s patience was further tested when their originally scheduled September 6 match was delayed after Klitschko injured his biceps while sparring in preparation for the bout.
The fight was quickly rescheduled to November 15, but Pulev was never convinced the injury was genuine.
Heavyweight challenger Kubrat Pulev refused to attend the press conference with Heavyweight Champion Vladimir Klitschko on 10th of November after being informed that only three members from Pulev's camp could be present.
Pulev believes that limiting the number of entourage members that could attend the press conference was the latest in a series of mental ploys Klitschko has used in an attempt to make Pulev uncomfortable heading into Saturday's fight
