WCC-Democratic Bulgaria seek support for their declaration of "sanitary cordon" around Peevski
"We Continue the Change" - Democratic Bulgaria" on November 12 started a series of meetings in the Parliament in search of support for its declaration for a "sanitary cordon" around Delyan Peevski and "Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) - New Beginning". The coalition talked with representatives from Morality, Unity, Honour (MECh) party, "There is Such a People" and "Alliance for Rights and Freedoms".
"As we announced immediately after the elections - we will make consultations with the political forces, excluding "MRF - New Beginning", in connection with the declaration of "sanitary cordon" and the legislative programme, related to the adoption of anti-corruption measures, change in the law so that Borislav Sarafov would not be elected Prosecutor General," co-chairman of "We Continue the Change", Kiril Petkov, explained before the start of the talks.
TISP's Toshko Yordanov insisted that the coalition accept the compromise decision to keep the oldest MP as Parliament Speaker until a majority is formed. In the first vote in the plenary on Monday, no Speaker of the 51st National Assembly was elected. Candidates of GERB-UDF Raya Nazaryan and of WCC-DB Andrei Tsekov reached the run-off.
I would ask you to take the compromise decision until a majority is formed, Yordanov insisted. Otherwise a lot of time could be wasted, he said.
Assen Vassilev replied that their approach was slightly different and only when they had clarity on exactly what the legislative agenda would be, then they would finalise this conversation. The President will do what we have decided as parliamentary groups, Toshko Yordanov insisted.
The Alliance for Rights and Freedoms will sign the declaration for a "sanitary cordon" around Delyan Peevski and his formation "MRF - New Beginning", proposed by WCC-DB and will support their package of anti-corruption legislation. This became clear after the meeting between the two formations, which took place in the Parliament.

"It is very important for us not to be “packaged” with those who separated themselves from the authentic MRF. We remain a liberal-democratic party with clearly expressed values," said Valentin Tonchev of the ARF.
WCC-DB has also extended an invitation for talks to the GERB-UDF, but is still awaiting their response.
