What is known about the Myrotvorets (Peacemaker) website, on which threats against Bulgarian politicians and journalists were published?
The Embassy of Ukraine dissociated itself from the public organisation and website Myrotvorets (Peacemaker), on which threats against Bulgarian politicians, journalists and public figures were published. The activity of "Myrotvorets is in no way related to the work of the state institutions of Ukraine and does not reflect the official policy of the Ukrainian state, Ukrainian diplomats say on July 20. Among the published names are those of the President Georgi Parvanov (President of Bulgaria from 2002 to 2012), the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Christian Vigenin, the journalist Velislava Dureva. The authors of the site create public files of persons who, according to them, commit crimes against the "national security" of the Ukrainian state. They are included in a section under the name "Purgatory". President Georgi Parvanov, who is also on the list, told BNT that he was amazed.
The Embassy of Ukraine stressed that Myrotvorets is an independent information resource of a public initiative of the Center for Investigation of Signs of Crimes against the National Security of Ukraine. According to the Embassy, the information on the website is sourced from well-known and publicly available open sources that are used exclusively for research, creative and journalistic purposes.
The website, which was opened in 2014, maintains a database of files on people who commit or participate in the commission of crimes against Ukraine's national security, according to Myrotvorets. They say their data is freely available to Ukraine's intelligence and law enforcement agencies.
The list of individuals includes people who, according to the website, are Russian spies and people of any nationality who work against Ukraine. On the photos of those of them who have been assassinated or killed, the site puts a red inscription "Liquidated".
President Georgi Parvanov has been in the list of the website for five years. The reason - "violation of the state borders of Ukraine and participation in Russian propaganda events". The site claims that Parvanov participated in an international conference on Crimea in Yalta in 2017.
"I am amazed, I admit. I don't remember for many years, as a historian, I would say, about such a phenomenon. The fact highlighted for my inclusion - my presence at some forum in Yalta, is a lie. A rude, brazen lie, since I have never been to Yalta on any occasion," stated Georgi Parvanov.
According to him, Bulgaria should react sharply at the level of executive power, and not at the level of a parliamentary committee.
"I have been against this war since its second day, I have always been in favour of a truce and quick peace negotiations, but I cannot accept someone slandering me, pointing the finger at me, and I say again - that is exactly why those who in recent days campaigned the most for sending weapons to Ukraine, for its inclusion in NATO, must now react first to show that they have some principles," Parvanov said.
The deputy speaker of the parliament, former foreign minister and MP from the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) Christian Vigenin is also on the list from April last year. "Peacemaker" accuses him of complicity in the crimes of the Russian authorities against Ukraine and its citizens by refusing to support the provision of military aid to Kiev.
"We are insisting that the names of the Bulgarian citizens on this list, no matter what their position and profession is, be removed from the list, with the assistance of the Ukrainian state. This is the least that I think the Ukrainian state can do," said Christian Vigenin.
Vigenin stated that he does not fear for his life, but he is waiting for information from our special services if he needs security protection.
"I believe that Ukraine, regardless of the difficult situation in which it finds itself, should observe basic principles, respect human rights and fulfill its international commitments," said Christian Vigenin, deputy chairman of the National Assembly.
The list of people who, according to "Myrotvorets", are complicit in crimes against the national security of Ukraine, also includes journalists Veliana Hristova, Dilyana Gaitanzhieva, Velislava Dureva, Elena Yoncheva, Hristo Georgiev. Prof. Andrey Pantev, Rumen Petkov, Valentin Vacev, Prof. Ivo Hristov. Socialists said they would alert the State Agency for National Security (SANS) and demanded that the Ukrainian state take measures. They defined the position of the Ukrainian embassy as cynical.
"The website carried out its activity in connection with the legislation of Ukraine. In which normal state legislation in the world can you see calls for murder and lists of people are uploaded with personal data and information is spread to kill them wherever you see them?" said Kornelia Ninova, BSP leader.
The chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Boyko Borisov, said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the services have already been assigned to clarify who is behind the website.
"It is absolutely inadmissible for journalists, Bulgarians and, the deputy speaker of the parliament to be on the list. This is unacceptable," said Boyko Borisov.
“The Bulgarian state must check what it is about, so that there is no doubt that any Bulgarian citizen, especially journalists, can be subjected to threats", stated Hristo Ivanov of “Democratic Bulgaria”.
"It doesn't matter to which parliamentary group a Bulgarian politician belongs, it is inadmissible to be included in lists that are threatening," said Daniel Mitov.
"We will report to the Prosecutor's office, we will also send a letter to the national security agency (SANS) to find out if SBU * Security Service of Ukraine) agents in the country are planning to kill any of those included in the "Peacemaker" list ?", said Angel Georgiev from "Vazrazhdane".
Peacemaker" website features not only Bulgarians. Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, he patriarch of American diplomacy. was listed on Ukrainian website Peacemaker as well.
