What will the Bulgarian pavilion present at the 28th UN Climate Change Conference in Dubai?

At the 28th UN Climate Change Summit, world leaders called for serious measures to curb global warming.

President Rumen Radev heads the Bulgarian delegation and will address the leaders tomorrow.

Bulgaria for the first time participates with its own pavilion at the annual UN climate change conference. Representatives of the government, business, science and NGOs will present ideas and real achievements in the fight against climate change, the negative consequences of which are increasingly being felt. And the past year is shaping up to be the hottest on record.

The Bulgarian pavilion will showcase business activities in the field of technology and innovative environmental production, as well as achievements in decarbonisation.

The pavilion was opened by President Rumen Radev. The event was attended by the President of Poland and the Vice-President of the European Commission.

"I believe that achieving sustainable climate solutions is only possible with the establishment of close cooperation between countries, with exchange of experience, knowledge transfer and joint action. Cooperation between countries is crucial for achieving a just and people-, nature- and economy-focused carbon-neutral transition," President Radev said.

The participants in the Bulgarian pavilion include representatives of the Trakia economic zone near Plovdiv, which is expected to create 30,000 new jobs in the next 10 years.

"EnduroSat is a successful start-up company. The company's Bulgarian nanosatellite flew on the first orbital flight for 2023 of Elon Musk's SpaceX company," said Plamen Panchev, executive director of Trakia Economic Zone.

"Participants at COP28 are discussing the extent to which the Paris Agreement's goal of containing the rise in global warming to a degree and a half by the end of the century is being met," said Raicho Raichev, CEO and founder of EnduroSat.

We can't save a burning planet with a firehose of fossil fuels. We must accelerate a just, equitable transition to renewables. The science is clear: The 1.5°C warming limit is only possible if we ultimately stop burning fossil fuels. Not reduce. Not abate. Phase out," UN Secretary-General António Guterres said at the conference.

President Radev also held bilateral meetings. He and Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis discussed the strategic partnership and the need to accelerate joint projects in the fields of energy, transport and the environment. Mitsotakis assured that the liquefied gas terminal in Alexandroupolis will be completed early next year.

In the meeting with the King of Jordan, they discussed tensions in the Middle East.
