Will the draft cabinet of “There is Such a People” be supported?

The first day of the week in which the vote of the draft cabinet line-up proposed by "There is Such a People" (TISP) party is expected, was marked by political tension. "Rise up BG! We are Coming" said they would not support the cabinet of TISP. The Bulgarian Socialist Party does not want Petar Iliev as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, they will finally decide tomorrow whether or not to support the draft cabinet. TISP leader, Slavi Trifonov accused both parties of being "players from the status quo".

“There is Such a People" leader, Slavi Trifonov, on August 9, announced on Facebook why, in his opinion, the support of the "protest parties" fort he draft cabinet of his party is logical.

In his post,Trifonov lists 6 topics on which they have a complete coincidence of goals. And they are - to completely erase and stop the GERB model, to implement judicial reform and to close the specialised court and specialised prosecutor's office, to present the Recovery and Resilience Plan to the European Commission as soon as possible, to recalculate pensions, to have a serious reform in healthcare and, most importantly, for the state to be prepared for a possible new Covid crisis. And more, agreement has been reached on many issues in the field of agriculture, education and fiscal policy.

"So, if the protest parties do not vote for the government proposed by 'There is Such a People', the reason will not be disagreement on any of the listed goals, but some other. I can't know and I don't want to guess what. But the result will be the suspension and delay of all reforms, objectively speaking, betrayal by the protest parties, new elections and joy for GERB and the status quo parties, as well as the inability of the protest parties to explain to the Bulgarian voter why they are causing all this," said TISP leader Slavi Trifonov.

BSP said that if the nomination for Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Petar Iliev, was not withdrawn, the party would not give support. BSP leader, Kornelia Ninova, reminded that they have no claims regarding the persons in the draft cabinet, but after today's interview with Iliev, there is a change.

"Without being intrusive and without pressure, we would like the mandate holder TISP to reconsider its decision on its candidate for Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. We will wait to see their reaction and the National Council will make a final decision tomorrow before the vote." said BSP chair Kornelia Ninova.

Ninova clarified that they are grateful to TISP for sending them a written document on the achievements of the talks between the two formations. BSP is satisfied that all the demands made by them are set out in the document.

The National Council of the Green Movement, which is part of the “Democratic Bulgaria” coalition, decided on Saturday that its MPs would not support the draft cabinet of "There is Such a People". The final decision will be made by the parliamentary group of "Democratic Bulgaria", which will meet tomorrow.

MEP from "Democratic Bulgaria" Radan Kanev wrote on Facebook that never, nowhere in the democratic world, support is given for naked promises, unsupported by knowledge, experience and will.

"I know from experience that the process of political negotiations is difficult and ungrateful. That is why I give my full support to my leaders to negotiate a sensible solution to the crisis, including with TISP, despite the frightening differences between us. And if such negotiations have achieved success - I will support and congratulate them. But if there are no negotiations and they decide not to support your cheap and quite amateur blackmail, I will feel not betrayed, but simply presented," Radan Kanev said.

After the reactions of the political forces, a new post by Slavi Trifonov followed.

"I will say something to "Democratic Bulgaria ","Rise up BG! We are Coming! " and BSP. If you are going to use Petar Iliev again, to not support the government of "There is Such a People ", you obviously think that no one distinguishes between reason and cause. Petar Iliev is the cause you are looking for, and the reason is that all of you are obviously players of the status quo and you cannot accept someone to interfere in your so-called "politics". Well, let's see what will happen," said Slavi Trifonov.

Meanwhile, doubts have arisen as to whether TISP PM designate, Plamen Nikolov, has a degree in Austria. For BTA, the author of an article on the subject states that Plamen Nikolov was not a graduate of the University of Klagenfurt.
