Workers of industrial military manufacturer, VMZ-Sopot, staged a protest

Workers and employees of Bulgaria’s largest state-owned enterprise in the military and industrial complex, Vazovski Mashinostroitelni Zavodi (VMZ) in the town of Sopot, staged a protest on June 8.

The reason is that they are worried about the stability and the future of the plant after a few days ago the Minister of Economy and Industry, Kornelia Ninova, announced that she is replacing the current management with a new one.

The protests also came after the minister did not respond by the end of yesterday to an invitation for a meeting with the executive councils of the two trade unions at the plant to discuss how the workers' wages would be guaranteed if there is a new management at VMZ-Sopot.
