"Yes Bulgaria": Constitutional Court chose to leave the omnipotence and unaccountability of the Prosecutor General

The Constitutional Court chose to leave the omnipotence and unaccountability of the Prosecutor General instead of strengthening the guarantees for a truly independent court. This is how the "Yes Bulgaria" party reacted to the Constitutional Court's decision to declare unconstitutional part of the changes in the basic law related to the judicial reform.

Constitutional Court declares most constitutional changes as invalid

"Today, the Constitutional Court blocked the possibility of a judicial reform that would introduce the highest possible guarantees for an independent court, an accountable Prosecutor's office and limit the power of the Prosecutor General," the party said in a press release on July 26.

"This decision will have serious consequences for the rule of law in Bulgaria - the umbrellas and dependencies in the Prosecutor's office will continue to fuel the sense of injustice in Bulgarian society," said “Yes Bulgaria” (which is a constituent party of the “We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria” coalition),
