A queue of more than 300 lorries at Danube Bridge border crossing near Rousse

For a fourth consecutive day, there have been long queues of lorries at Danube Bridge border crossing near the North Bulgarian city of Rousse (border with Romania). The queue, which is more than 6 km long, has stretched to the nearby town of Marten.

Local residents on June 17 staged a protest because they are hot happy with the traffic jams in the area.

The protesters demand that there be no more traffic jams and chaos at the border crossing at the Danube Bridge, because according to them the lorries create preconditions for road accidents and people cannot travel to their homes safely.

The people do not intend to block the road to the border checkpoint, only the junction for Marten. They say they staged the protest to save their children's lives.

With this intensive traffic on the Danube bridge, there are currently more than 300 lorries, there is no breakdown in the technical system, all four counters are working.
