Code Red weather alert for extremely high temperatures, the highest level of warning, was issued for 17 districts in Bulgaria for Saturday, 1st of July, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences said on 30th of June.
The code red weather warning will be in place for the districts of Montana, Vratsa, Pleven, Lovech, Gabrovo, Veliko Turnovo, Rousse, Targovishte, Razgrad, Silistra, Shoumen, Sliven, Yambol, Haskovo, Stara Zagora, Plovdiv and Pazardzhik.
Maximum temperatures are expected to be between 41° and 44° per Celsius.
People are advised to take care of themselves, to help vulnerable and sensitive people and follow the advice of the authorities. Infrastructure damages can be expected.
For the rest of the country, code orange for extremely high temperatures will be in force. The regions of Vidin, Sofia-disctirct, Sofia-city, Pernik, Kyustendil, Blagoevgrad, Smolyan, Kardzhali, Bourgas, Varna and Dobrich are expected to see very hot weather with maximum temperatures of 38 ° -41 ° C.
