Coronavirus in Bulgaria: 43 new cases, Sarnitsa outbreak grows
Forty three new cases of coronavirus were registered in Bulgaria over the past 24 hours from 816 tests, the national information system said on June 7.
The districts with the new cases are as follows: Pazardzhik – 21; Pernik – 1; Razgrad – 2; Sliven – 10; Smolyan – 1’ Sofia district – 1; Sofia city – 4; Shoumen – 2; Yambol – 1.
The total confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country are 2711. The active cases are 1006.
1545 people diagnosed with covid-19 have recovered so far, from whom 17 recovered over the past 24 hours.
155 patients are in hospitals, 12 of them in intensive care.
The medical professionals diagnosed with Covid-19 are 294. Six new cases of medical staff were confirmed over the past 24 hours: 2 doctors, 1 nurse, 2 health care assistants and 2 other medical staff.
No patient with covid-19 died over the past 24 hours.
The district of Pazardzhik (South Bulgaria) reported 21 new cases, from which 17 are in the village of Sarnitsa (14 women and 3 men), where an outbreak was recently registered.
Twelve of the infected women work in a toy factory in the town of Dospat. The rest of the positive cases are their contacts. Fatma Kamberova, a health inspector from the Regional Health Inspectorate in Pazardzhik explained that all 17 new cases are in good health condition and without symptoms. They were all placed under home quarantine for 28 days. She added that a total of 50 samples were taken on Friday, from which 12 tested positive for the virus. The local health authorities are identifying the contacts of these 17 people and they will be placed under quarantine. She said that people were advised not to visit hotels and temples at the moment.
“Hadzhi Dimitar” private hospital in Sliven reported 3 new coronavirus cases of medical staff. The total number of medical professionals who work in that hospital and tested positive for the virus is now 15. All of them were admitted to the infectious disease ward for monitoring. All the staff of the hospital has been tested with PCR tests. Second disinfection, in all wards, is being conducted.
