Coronavirus in Bulgaria: Total confirmed cases is 2560, new cluster in Sliven
Twenty two new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Bulgaria over the past 24 hours from 1347 PCR tests, the secretary of the national task force, associate professor Dimo Dimov said on June 3 at the daily briefing.
The new cases include 13 women, 9 men and 2 children under the age of 2.
The total number of cases in the country has risen to 2560.
Nine new medical professionals tested positive for the virus: 2 doctors, 5 nurses and 2 healthcare assistants.
Seven of the newly infected medics work in the same ward, in a private hospital in the city of Sliven. The ward is not a Covid-19 one, it is a gastroenterology ward. These facts confirm that the coronavirus infection spreads in clusters and the anti-epidemic measures should be adhered to, Dimov said.
The gastroenterology ward in Sliven has been temporarily closed to patients in order to identify the contacts to the infected and all the patients who were treated in it in the previous month.
Dimo Dimov noted that physical distancing, protective masks and disinfectants continue to be the only effective measure against the disease.
The deaths from Covid-19 are now 146. A 77 year old doctor from Vidin died over the past 24 hours and a 67 year old woman from Plovdiv. Bothe had underlying health conditions.
The new recoveries are 83. The total number of recoveries since the start of the epidemic is 1206.
