New coronavirus outbreak registered in the Bulgarian town of Samokov
A new coronavirus outbreak was registered in Bulgaria on June 5 in the town of Samokov (South-West Bulgaria).
The infection started from a patient in the local hospital, who tested positive on Wednesday. He was admitted to the internal disease ward on Monday with symptoms of pneumonia and then a PCR test was done, which tested positive.
All the other patients from the same ward and the medical staff were tested. A day later three of the patients and a doctor tested positive for the virus and four more cases were confirmed on Friday, including two nurses and two patients. A total of 30 tests were conducted.
Currently, five of the patients were transported to the St. Anna hospital in Sofia. One of them is in intensive care after complications.
The infected doctor and the nurses are undergoing treatment at home.
