From December 6-9, police officers across the country will carry out tighter checks, mainly for driving after drinking alcohol and taking drugs, whether drivers have driving licence and whether their vehicles are technically in good condition.
The students’ holiday is marked on December 8th. the holiday first started being celebrated in 1903, on occasion of the 15th anniversary of Sofia University and became the holiday of all students in Bulgaria.
This year, the most preferred destinations for students are winter resorts and huts. Therefore, police presence in such areas will be increased.
Police teams will also be located near establishments reserved for the holiday. To ensure the safety of the celebrations, gendarmerie staff will also be seconded.
Police are also expecting crimes such as theft of phones and money, and the possibility of hooliganism.
