Air quality in Sofia is being measured due to strong smell alerts
At the request of the Mayor of Sofia Municipality, Yordanka Fandakova, on 15th of August, air quality measurements were carried out in connection with reports of sharp smell in the regions of Poduyane, Oborishte and Serdika.
At the request of the Mayor of Sofia Municipality, Yordanka Fandakova, on 15th of August, air quality measurements were carried out in connection with reports of sharp smell in the regions of Poduyane, Oborishte and Serdika. Express data from the mobile laboratory of the Executive Environment Agency do not currently show any exceedances of the basic indicators characterising the quality of the atmospheric air, Sofia Municipality reported.
The measurements with the mobile laboratory are ongoing and the chemical laboratory of the Sofia Fire Brigade is also involved. The data from the six stationary stations of the Executive Environment Agency on the territory of Sofia Municipality is also checked.
The Regional Inspection of Environment and Waters, Sofia Regional Health Inspection, the Metropolitan Directorate of the Interior and Sofia Fire Brigade have been brought to this case. Fire teams, together with the mayors of the affected areas and teams of the Emergency Relief and Prevention Directorate of Sofia Municipality, are searching for the source.
The coordination of the actions of the institutions was entrusted to the mayor of Poduyane region, Ms. Eva Mitova.
