10 houses burned down in two wild fires near Haskovo
Ten houses, some of which inhabited, burnt down in a large wild fire raging in the village of Gornoseltsi in Ivaylovgrad, Southeastern Bulgaria, on July 12.
A fire is also burning near the village of Srem in Topolovgrad. High temperatures, strong winds and terrain complexity makes extinguishing difficult.
The district governor of Haskovo, Mehmed Ataman, declared a partial state of emergency in the municipalities of Ivaylovgrad and Topolovgrad.
The aim is to assist firefighters with additional equipment and people in order to suppress the fire. 15 teams are battling the flames.
Meanwhile, a fire has also broken out near the village of Studena in Svilengrad. These are dry areas where major fires occur every summer.
