The deadline for registration in the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the initiative committees that nominate candidates for the June 9 vote expired on April 29. The documents of 3 initiative committees for three independent candidates for Members of the European Parliament have been submitted.

22 parties and 11 coalitions are also taking part in the electoral race for members of the Bulgarian National Assembly and/or the European Parliament.

9,346 polling stations will be voting by machine. Work on the procurement of the machines has not yet been completed.

On the CEC website, citizens can check whether their names appear on the lists of support for parties and coalitions.

The provisional electoral lists were published yesterday. Voters can check whether they are on the electoral rolls for both types of elections and the address of their polling station on the CEC website.

"We recommend that a check be carried out. If someone is not included in the list, they can make a request to the mayor of the municipality of their current address," advised Rositsa Mateva, spokesperson for the CEC.

Since last week it has been possible to submit applications for voting outside the country. To date, 10,666 applications have been submitted for the elections for National Assembly and 4,693 for the European Parliament.

The deadline for coalitions to submit documents to the CEC to change the coalition's composition or name is 4 May.

On 7 May the deadline for registration of candidate lists with the CEC for the European elections and with the REC for the national elections expires.

Meanwhile, caretaker Prime Minister, Dimitar Glavchev, discussed the organisation of the upcoming elections with the caretaker ministers of e-governance and regional development and public works, Valentin Mundrov and Violeta Koritarova, as well as with the deputy ministers of foreign affairs and transport and communications Ivan Kondov and Dimitar Nedyalkov.

They assured the caretaker Prime Minister that the schedule of the activities for the preparation of the elections is strictly followed and so far no difficulties have arisen in the organisation, the government press service said.

Glavchev confirmed the caretaker government's commitment to work to ensure a fair vote on June 9, 2024.

"Yesterday we made a public selection of the numbers of the machines that will be certified for compliance to show that we will ensure full transparency of the processes," the Prime Minister said.
