4,7 magnitude earthquake registered in Assenovgrad and Sadovo (update)
An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 on the Richter scale was registered in Plovdiv region, Southern Bulgaria on June 7.
The epicentre was in the region between the towns of Assenovgrad and Sadovo.
The quake occurred at 15.26 and was at a depth of 4.5 km.
The earthquake was also felt in Sofia.
According to initial information, there were no casualties in the strong earthquake.
There are fallen chimneys in the village of Krumovo, said Mayor Rumiana Samokhareva. According to unconfirmed information, the earthquake also forced the evacuation of the humanitarian high school in Plovdiv.
Many of the city's residents went out to the streets, including the BNT-Plovdiv team.
"I was at my workplace in the newsroom of BNT-Plovdiv. A strong earthquake, the floor shook strongly. At one point the rumble that came from the hill behind the TV building was very loud. The tremor was quite strong and palpable and it made us leave the building immediately," says journalist Dimitar Dimitrov.
