58 parties and 9 coalitions registered for the local elections in October
A total of 58 parties and 9 coalitions were registered for the local elections. Seven of those who submitted documents were denied registration because of petition violations, Central Election Commission spokeswoman Rositsa Mateva told BNT on September 15.
Six of the parties were declined registration because of insufficient number of signatures - for example, the Bulgarian Spring party was short of 31 signatures out of the required 2,500.
The seventh - "People's Party Freedom and Dignity" was declined because it did not meet the CEC requirements for the necessary documents. Otherwise, the registered parties and coalitions have until Monday to submit their documents to the Municipal Election Commissions. Candidate lists for municipal councillors will be registered with the municipal commissions by September 26, and a day later the CEC will hold a draw to determine the order in which parties' and coalitions' will appear on the ballot paper.
