769 polling stations in 60 countries will be opened for the voting abroad for June 9 elections
A total of 769 polling stations in 60 countries will be available for voting abroad in Bulgaria's two-in-one national parliamentary elections and European Parliament elections on June 9, 2024, Deputy Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov told a news briefing on May 23.
Voting in both kinds of election will take place at 388 polling stations in 57 countries. This is so because voting for European Parliament will take place in EU Member States or third countries in which Bulgaria has diplomatic and consular missions.
The three countries where voting for European Parliament elections will not take place are New Zealand, Singapore and Iceland. These are countries where Bulgaria does not have diplomatic and consular representations, the Foreign Ministry said.
The largest number of polling stations abroad is in Turkey - 166, voting for the European Parliament will be conducted in four of them. Machine voting will be available in total 245 polling stations abroad.
So far, all the deadlines we have under the Electoral Code have been met, Kondov assured.
