A powerful storm hit Northwestern Bulgaria during the night
A powerful storm with hurricane winds reaching 100 kilometres per hour struck Northwestern Bulgaria in the early hours on July 20.
Forty signals for fallen trees and branches were submitted on the territory of the Montana district.
Within 20 minutes, a hurricane-force wind swept through the district, knocking down many trees and snapping electricity cables.
"All emergency response teams were actively deployed. A total of 40 alerts of fallen trees and branches were reported during the night, with six incidents involving damage to cars. At the moment the situation is calmer, the teams are working in two places," said Commissioner Ventsislav Raykov.
Work on repairing the damage started early this morning. Workers were clearing the parks of the fallen trees. The damage from the storm is only material and fortunately no people were injured.
