Blockbuster crime series ‘Undercover’ will delight BNT viewers with a new season

One of the most iconic Bulgarian TV series - "Undercover" - returns on the Bulgarian National Television with a sixth season. Filming starts in the summer and viewers of the public service broadcaster will have the opportunity to watch the new 12 episodes in 2025.

"I have the honour and pleasure to officially present the new sixth season of one of the most successful series in Bulgaria, not only on BNT. We are especially proud that after so many years we have managed to continue and develop the series, which, I believe, is a favourite of our viewers and everyone is looking forward to the new season," BNT Director-General, Emil Koshlukov, said on February 6 during a special press conference, which was also attended by screenwriters Borislav Zahariev and Vanya Nikolova; the creator of 'Undercover', Dimitar Mitovsky; journalist and consultant of the series, Slavi Angelov; as well as actors Mihail Bilalov and Marian Valev.

"For the first time 'Undercover' has also attracted the interest of global platforms, so soon it will be one of the first Bulgarian series broadcast on HBO. The filming of the new season will start in the summer of this year and we hope to release it in 2025," Koshlukov explained.

In 'Undercover'season 6, viewers will again see some of their favourite characters - the unscrupulous mafia boss Peter Tudzharov - Dzharo, played by Mihail Bilalov, and Rossen Gatsov - Kukata, played by Marian Valev.

Among the big surprises in the new season of the crime series, which set new standards in the film production in the country, will be the participation of one of the most famous Bulgarian actors, Julian Vergov.

Fans of 'Undercover' can expect to see more new characters and intriguing storylines, director Viktor Bozhinov revealed.

"Coincidentally, I've directed most of the episodes of the previous five seasons and I'm extremely grateful to have been invited to this sixth season. This is probably the only project I would return to, because I have a great sentiment for it and I owe much of my successful career to it. The sixth season will be geographically different - it will be filmed not only in Sofia and its surroundings, but also on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, in Frankfurt and Malta," said Viktor Bozhinov.
