BNT celebrates 65 years in broadcasting

Today Bulgarian National Television turns 65 years old.

On November 7, 1959 at 9:45 a.m., the first live television broadcast in the country began with the announcer's words "Attention, we are on air". The live broadcast was directed by Angel Valchanov and Lidiya Ishimbaeva.

An interesting programme with many surprises awaits viewers for the holiday.

In honour of BNT’s 65th birthday, there was a special 8 p.m. newscast, in which one of the popular former anchors of the broadcaster returned to present the news.

The 65th birthday may seem at first glance to exite only us - the people of BNT. But in fact, BNT is connected to generations of viewers on the other side of the screen. Together we have experienced our nation's ups and downs; the successes that have united us, and the tragedies that we have rallied together to overcome. For six and a half decades, BNT has changed as our lives change, the lives of generations. Stars have risen and stars have set. BNT remains connected to you, the viewers. It is a part of our lives, of your lives. BNT turns 65. These are years are experience. To retire? No! It is still young, modern, capable. Still going strong, working a lot, never rests. Changes do not frighten it. It adapts easily. Everyone knows it, after all, it often visits homes. It is like a member of the family. It is BNT.

The news - they are the basis of television. Their success is measured in trust. There is the explanation for everything that happens "in the world and at home".

The analysis, the context of events, the journalistic investigations - and that is BNT today.

Memory after memory - carefully arranged as if in an album - for 65 years BNT has been a keeper of memories. The black-and-white narratives gradually take on colour. New technologies, new people - but the same high television standards have guided us through time.

With bated breath and tears in our eyes we welcome every sporting success, every gold medal. And the national anthem resounds in hundreds of homes once again through BNT's sports broadcasts.
