Boryana Kalein, Styliana Nikolova and Eva Brezalieva will represent Bulgaria at the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships
Boryana Kalein, Styliana Nikolova and Eva Brezalieva will represent Bulgaria in the individual competition at the 40th World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Valencia from 23 to 27 August.
Bulgaria will be looking for a second quota through Boryana Kalein, who will present her full programme at the world championship, Stiliyana Nikolova will perform in three routines - hoop, ball and clubs, while Eva Brezalieva will perform with the ribbon.
The country will also be represented by the world champions Zenina Trashlieva, Sofia Ivanova, Kamelia Petrova, Rachel Stoyanov and Radina Tomova in the ensembles, who took an Olympic quota last year. This is clear from the first stage of the preliminary entries for the World Championships published by the FIG. So far, 88 individuals from 49 countries and 24 ensembles have been entered.
In the individual competition, Bulgaria is in stream C together with representatives of Germany, Spain, Uzbekistan, USA, Greece and others. The women's ensemble starts with five hoops in Pool B. Together in the group of Vesela Dimitrova's students are the ensembles of Israel, Italy, Ukraine, Japan, Azerbaijan, Poland, Turkey, USA, Greece, Mexico and Australia.
The top eight on each apparatus from the qualifying rounds will move on to the individual apparatus finals, which will complete the first two days (23 and 24 August) of individual competition. 26 August is dedicated to the individual all-around final, for which the top three scores from the qualifying rounds are added together.
Germany and Mexico will open the competition in the ensembles in Group A and B respectively. A total of 24 groups will take to the carpet on August 25 in a competition that will determine the all-around champions, as well as the 5 hoop and 3 ribbons and 2 ball finalists that will highlight the final day of competition on the 27th. The top eight in each category move on to these apparatus finals.
