"Bulgargaz” seeks nearly 54% increase in natural gas price in August
Bulgaria’s public gas supplier “Bulgargaz”" has submitted an application to the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission, proposing the price of natural gas in Bulgaria for August to be increased by 53.4%. The public supplier is demanding a price of BGN 286.84 per megawatt-hour, excluding access, transmission, excise and VAT.
The application was filed with the energy regulator on 21 July 2022, but appeared on its website today, July 27.
It is not yet clear how the blue fuel price for August will be approved, as this has to be done at a meeting of the EWRC. However, following the Constitutional Court's ruling that annulled the election of the current chairperson Stanislav Todorov, the energy regulator currently has no acting chairperson with powers to convene a meeting.

Bulgarian energy regulations require "Bulgargaz" to set the price of natural gas on a monthly basis. EWRC has the final say on the proposed changes in the price at which the state-owned company sells natural gas to end-suppliers and customers connected to its transmission network.
