Bulgaria and Azerbaijan signed a declaration on strengthening strategic partnership
Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Alieyv welcomed Bulgarian Head of State Rumen Radev and the First Lady at his residence on May 8. Immediately after the meeting the two held a one-on-one conversation.
The two presidents signed a document on strategic cooperation.
"Azerbaijan and Bulgaria are linked by traditional friendship, understanding and mutual trust. Strategic dialogue at the highest political level is an expression of this relationship, as President Aliyev noted. This is the fourth meeting between us in the past two years. And this is not only an important sign. These relations at the highest political level are a solid basis for the development of our bilateral relations not only in the interests of our two countries, but also for strengthening stability and economic development in the Caucasus and the Black Sea region, for strengthening Europe's energy security," President Rumen Radev said.
"One of the drivers of the well-developed trade between the two countries is our cooperation in the energy sector. The volume of gas supplied from Azerbaijan is increasing annually. Bulgaria is an important transit country for neighbouring countries and this is a tangible result of our cooperation," said Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan.
