Bulgaria goes to the polls to elect a Parliament
On October 27, 2024, Bulgaria holds early parliamentary elections.
Voting will take place in 12,879 polling stations across the country.
The polling stations abroad are 719 in 57 countries.
Voting is by paper ballot or a voting machine. Paper ballots will be used in polling stations with less than 300 voters.
Machines will be available in 9,353 polling stations. They will also have paper ballots and everyone will be able to choose between voting with paper ballor or machine. If there is a problem with the device the relevant District Electoral Commission will decide to switchto paper only.
Close to 6,600,000 million Bulgarians are eligible to vote.
The polling day in Bulgaria starts at 07:00 and will run until 20:00. The law provides for extension of the voting time by an hour (until 21:00) if there is a queue of waiting voters outside the polling station.
A total of 19 parties, 9 coalitions and one independent candidate are participating in the October 27 early parliamentary elections. 4,855 candidates will take part in the race for the 240 seats in Bulgaria’s Parliament (1,377 are women and 3,478 are men). A total of 1,176 people are candidates from two districts.
