Bulgarian Navy defused naval mine off the Bulgarian Black Sea coast
On May 14, during a training voyage, the crew of a Bulgarian patrol boat spotted a mine-like object in the Black Sea, 2 miles east of the Pasha Dere locality.
After receiving the signal, the crew of the mine hunter "Struma" headed to the site on the instructions of Navy Commander Rear Admiral Kiril Mihailov.
The military sailors classified the object as KPM-type oval-shaped moored mine with four horns.
The mine was towed a safe distance out to sea and destroyed with a controlled blast by the minehunter's specialist team.
All safety precautions were observed during its destruction.
The Navy said it is ready for mine action with the aim of ensuring safe navigation in Bulgarian maritime spaces.
