Bulgaria’s tennis player, Grigor Dimitrov, won his first title in over two years and a half years with triumph over Japan’s Kei Nishikori in the men’s single’s final of the Brisbane International on Sunday, 8th of January.
The 25-year-old Bulgarian won his first match in four meetings with the Japanese third seed 6-2 2-6 6-3.
The match startet equal and Dimitrov closed the first set 6:2. The second set was almost a reverse of the first, with Dimitrov missing a breakpoint chance early before Nishikori rallied to win it in 33 minutes and level at 1-set apiece.
After the second set, Nishikori had a medical timeout.
In the third set Dimitrov upped his level again and didn’t drop a point in his first two service games, eventually winning the third set 6:3.
This is the fifth career singles title for Grigor Dimitrov, two of the titles being from Brisbane.
