Cardiologist Prof. Ivo Petrov wins Doctor of the Year award

Famous Bulgarian cardiologist, Prof Ivo Petro, received the 2022 Doctor of the Year Award on Bulgarian Doctor's Day, marked on October 19.

The award was presented by President Rumen Radev at a ceremony at the National History Museum, where the Bulgarian Medical Association presented its annual awards.

Prof. Dr. Petrov is a specialist in internal diseases, cardiology, invasive cardiology and angiology. He has a Master's degree in health management from the Medical University of Sofia.

"This is a gigantic recognition and perhaps most importantly for me, as it is from colleagues. It is the greatest recognition and at the same time, it is a great obligation. Without my team and the efforts of everyone around me, this would not have been possible," Prof. Petrov said.

It is the most prestigious medical award in the country. The selection for this highest ranking award is made by medical professionals from across the country. The award has been given since 2003.

At the ceremony, special awards were given to the doctors who helped the children from the crashed Serbian bus.
