Caretaker PM: All three border crossings between Bulgaria and Turkey will be expanded

All three border crossings between Bulgaria and Turkey will be modernised and expanded to accommodate the increasing traffic, said caretaker Prime Minister, Dimitar Glavchev, who today, June 5, visited the "Kapitan Andreevo" checkpoint.

He said that the financing has been secured for the public procurement announced some time ago for nearly 50 million BGN for the renovation of “Kapitan Andreevo” border checkpoint, which is the second busiest in the world:

"An extension of this checkpoint is planned, which has two aspects. One is on the existing crossing itself, and the second is the construction of a second terminal a little further north to separate traffic heading towards Romania, the so-called North-South vertical corridor."

Bulgaria’s representative at the NATO summit in Washington is not yet clear. Hopefully there will be a regular government to determine who will represent the country, but if there is not by then, I will turn to the National Assembly, the caretaker Prime Minister said.

After all, we are a parliamentary republic and the Parliament must make a decision for it to be as legitimate as possible, Glavchev explained. Parliament should determine who should lead the delegation and what mandate to give him/her for the summit talks, the caretaker Prime Minister added.
