Caretaker PM Glavchev at a meeting with Transparency International: We will hold fair and transparent elections
The caretaker cabinet strictly adheres to the current electoral legislation and consistently works to organise fair and transparent elections, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said at a meeting with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Transparency International, Francois Valerian, and the Executive Director of Transparency International Bulgaria, Kalin Slavov, on May 15.
Caretaker Prime Minister Glavchev highlighted the international prestige of the organization and welcomed its proactive attitude towards the transparency of the electoral process.
"The current year 2024 is marked by elections on a global scale, we consider that the administration of the vote is an important matter," Transparency International said.
Prime Minister Glavchev was adamant that whatever depended on the caretaker government would be done to the best of its ability.
The fight against corruption was another focus of the talks at the Council of Ministers. Caretaker Prime Minister, Dimitar Glavchev, highlighted the opportunities for even closer cooperation within the National Council on Anti-Corruption Policies and the Civil Council attached to it. The Prime Minister and representatives of Transparency International were unanimous on the importance of active interaction between institutions, the non-governmental sector and the public.
Transparency International congratulated Bulgaria on its progress towards the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), where integrity is an essential aspect. Glavchev noted that following his meeting with OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann in Paris, Bulgaria has been given a specific deadline for joining the Organisation.
